Now that the final IEM6 Global Challenge for Counter-Strike has finished, IEM has published the updated season rankings that will determine teams for the World Championship. First three spots are given to the top placing American, Asian and European teams, in this case (assuming they all accept their spots and can afford going) SK Gaming, Ultimax Gaming USA and eFuture. Next up the top two placing teams from each global challenge are invited, which adds on fnatic, mousesports, WinFakt and Natus Vincere for a total of seven teams. SK Gaming placed top two in New York and Kiev but already receive a spot by being the top ranked European team. As explained in our previous post, the rest of the teams will be invited based on their points in the season ranking to round up the total of twelve teams that will be competing in Hannover on March 6-10.
The remaining five spots will go to the teams with the highest total of points, so once again assuming everyone would attend on the list, they would be Moscow Five, mTw, Lions, Evil Geniuses and Check Six. However, as we all now, mTw and Evil Geniuses have disbanded (although they could still go should three of their players wish to attend together) and some of the other teams might not be able to make the trip either, so in that case the spots will be offered to teams further down the list. |
